The last KC-10 flight flew out of Travis AFB this week and I still can’t get over how proud I am of the billboard honoring Officer Matthew Bowen. This is really a great community with a lot going on…
Billboard Honors Fallen Vacaville Police Officer Matthew Bowen
A billboard along I-80 appeared with a mega-sized tribute to Officer Matthew Bowen who was tragically killed on July 11th. There was no commercial branding or call for action at all. Just a giant billboard honoring the local hero. I learned the billboard was paid for by KUIU, the nationally renowned outdoor apparel company headquartered in Dixon. READ MORE
City Council Votes to Dedicate Monument to Richard Rico Family
On Tuesday, the Vacaville City Council voted unanimously to rename the three flagpoles and surrounding area downtown in honor of Richard Rico and his family. The “Rico Monument” is where the Merriment on Main tree lighting ceremony takes place. The Rico family owned and operated the Vacaville Reporter newspaper for over 60 years. Richard was the author of the popular, and amazingly well-written “At Ease” column. READ MORE
Ron DuPratt Ford Donates Explorer to Will C. Wood Auto Tech Program

Ron DuPratt Ford of Dixon donated a 2023 Ford Explorer to Will C. Wood’s automotive technology program. The vehicle has most of the modern technology that future automotive technicians will need to understand. It’s another great example of a long-standing Solano County business giving back to the community.

A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monte Vista Avenue Tuesday morning.
A 21 year-old man was arrested for DUI after striking a pedestrian on Vaca Valley Parkway Tuesday night.
Vacaville will have a Dia de Los Muertes celebration in Andrews Park on November 2nd.
Travis Air Force Base bids farewell to their fleet of KC-10s. Known as “Big Sexy,” the air refuelers flew their last flight to “the boneyard” on Wednesday. They’ve been serving Travis AFB since 1994 and have been replaced with the more modern KC-46A Pegasus.
City of Vacaville is hiring a Senior Building Inspector.
Congratulations to Vacaville Firefighter/Paramedic Courtney Hughes-Plocher who retired after 22 years of service!
