Woman Accused of Killing Officer Bowen is Found Mentally Incompetent to Stand Trial

The woman accused of killing Vacaville Police Officer Matthew Bowen was found mentally incompetent to stand trial this week. Criminal proceedings will be postponed, and she will likely be transferred to a mental facility until deemed mentally competent. A placement hearing will be held in Fairfield on November 14th. Another Pedestrian Struck & Killed in Vacaville

On Wednesday, police investigated a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on Cernon Street near Monte Vista Ave. The male pedestrian was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. On Thursday, police announced the man did not survive. This is the latest in what appears to be a significant increase in local accidents involving pedestrians. READ MORE

City Council Approves Liens on Properties for Weed Abatement

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the Fire Marshall requested liens be placed on two properties in Vacaville to recover costs for weed abatement efforts. The five council members present unanimously voted to approve the liens. READ MORE
