đź’™ Officer Matthew Bowen, KC-10s, & "The Bench"

On Thursday morning, Vacaville Police Officer Matthew Bowen was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle on Leisure Town Road. In a community like Vacaville, this loss has ripple effects which touch many of us.

Officer Bowen has been with the Vacaville Police Department for a year and previously served with the Concord Police Department. He is survived by his wife, two sons, parents, and brother.
Our deepest condolences go to Officer Bowen’s family, the Vacaville Police Department, the entire first responder community, and everyone who witnessed the chaotic scene.
Please keep VVPD in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

The U.S. Air Force’s KC-10 Extender has been a staple of Travis Air Force Base for over 30 years. This September, the giant refueler will be replaced with the newer KC-46, an upgraded Boeing 767 with state-of-the-art data and communications connectivity.
Rather than looking out a rear window, the KC-46’s boom operator works from a station near the cockpit, using cameras and remote sensors for control. Maintenance crews just completed their final annual maintenance on the KC-10 fleet. READ MORE
