💙 Bowen Family Support, Prison Outage, & Tom Petty Tribute!

The week has been a difficult one for Vacaville public safety. Following the on-duty death of Officer Matt Bowen last Thursday, the Vacaville Fire Department announced the passing of Code Enforcement Technician Bryden Nadasdy. Nadasdy was killed in a motorcycle accident while off-duty last Friday. He leaves behind his brother and mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nadasdy family and the Vacaville Fire Department.
The suspected driver who killed Officer Matt Bowen was arraigned on Monday. Evidence appears to support that Sabrina Rodriguez intentionally killed Officer Bowen and the District Attorney filed murder charges against her.
Outpouring of Community Support for Officer Bowen
The Vacaville Police Department announced two official fundraisers for the Bowen family with a goal of raising $1,000,000. We created an ongoing list of local businesses who are donating proceeds or hosting fundraisers for the family. Please join us in supporting their efforts!
Extended Power Outage at Vacaville Prison
California State Prison, Solano experienced a power outage which began on Sunday and lasted until Tuesday afternoon. The outage gained national media attention as some expressed concerns for inmate safety during the heat wave. The prison ran on generator power and officials said the outage did not impact security at the prison.
I Tried Vacaville’s New ‘Float Spa’
Imagine floating in a tank filled with salt water. The water contains 800 pounds of epsom salt to keep you afloat on the surface. There’s no sound and it’s pitch black inside. The water is the exact temperature as your skin, so you barely feel it.
It’s called a sensory deprivation tank and it’s actually quite therapeutic. I tried it for the first time at the new True Rest location in Vacaville.
